Women are preparing for a black protest in Turkey against legislation that shall effectively provide amnesty for rapists and sexual exploiters as long as they marry those they have violated. The legislation shall be voted in Parliament tomorrow (Tuesday, the 22nd of November). We are painting our social media profiles and the streets black; support us in raising our voices by changing your social media profiles too!

This #BlackProtest shall voice our rage against this attempt to absolve sexual exploitation and lower the age of consent from 15 to 12. We shall share our photos on social media using the hashtags #TecavüzMeşrulaştırılamaz (#RapeCantBeLegitimized) and #SiyahProtesto (#BlackProtest)

We shall wear black. Hang black sheets and banners on our apartment buildings. Turn our social media profiles black. And in the evening, take to the streets. Sexual exploitation and rape target our very lives. So, it is our lives that we are out to defend!
